Notes | Margaret P. (Lorsbach) Mahoney, 99, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph A. Mahoney.
Born in Allentown, Pa., daughter of the late Ferdinand and Ana (Stueen) Lorsbach, she moved to New Bedford in 1930, where she lived the rest of her life. She had been a resident of Sacred Heart Home for the past few years.
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society.
Mrs. Mahoney was formerly employed as a teacher in the New Bedford public school system for many years until her retirement. She taught in the elementary schools and adult education classes.
She was an honorary member of the Catholic Women's Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia R. Burke and her husband Richard, of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Richard E. Burke of Dartmouth, Margaret Burke Hay of New Bedford and Matthew J. Burke of Lakeville; two greatgrandchildren, Sarah Burke and Colin Burke, both of Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Emma Francis.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
